Ansvar and Child Protection
The Church's Child Protection Advisory Service (CCPAS) is part of the Christian Child Care Association (PCCA) and has been advising churches of all persuasions on issues of abuse since 1983. The service is unique. The organization provides support across the denominations, throughout the British Isles.
The CCPAS helps Churches, organizations, Social Services and other childcare agencies, as well as children and families, in the following ways by
- Training To help workers and leaders respond to children who might have been abused.
- Helping Churches and other organizations adopt safe practices so as to protect children from abuse and workers from the possibility of false allegations.
- Supporting Where issues are raised affecting individuals or organizations.
- Providing Help and on-going support to churches/organizations in preparing and maintaining child protection policies.
- Acting As external consultants part of a child protection policy to advise on practice generally and in individual cases and supporting denominational child protection advisers.
- Giving Support to leaders/families in individual cases, providing, where needed, on-going telephone, written or personal contact.
- Counselling On a limited basis for individual children and adults where there are issues of past abuse.
Ansvar sponsors the key resources leaflet, which delivers fundamental information for the success of organisations such as Social Services and other childcare agencies, as well as children and families.
