Ansvar Rocks 2004
The Rock Challenge is a thrilling drug and crime prevention vehicle that comes in the form of a performing arts competition for secondary schools and colleges, which was introduced into the United Kingdom by the Hampshire constabulary in 1996.
The event originated in Australia in 1980 and has since grown to the extent that in 2003, 12,000 students from 161 teams took part in 23 events throughout England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The Be Your Best Foundation, a registered charity, produces the event.
The focus of this friendly competition is on young people leading healthy lifestyles and being their best without the need for tobacco, alcohol or other drugs.
Each school forms teams of between 20 and 134 people aged 11 to 18 years old, to create an eight-minute production on a theme of there choice set to contemporary commercially available music. The Rock Challenge reaches its pinnacle in two breathtaking northern and southern finals supported by Ansvar.
