Mentor protects children from the harms caused by alcohol and drugs. They work to improve children’s knowledge, skills and self-confidence to make wise decisions, to be happier and healthier, and to fulfil their personal and social potential.

All their work is rooted in sound, evidence based research. This evidence tells us that children who get involved in alcohol and drugs are likely to underachieve in all walks of life. By acting now, Mentor can help children and young people achieve their full potential.

Working in partnership with treatment specialists Addaction during the exciting national project StreetTalk, Mentor are reaching vulnerable young people who may be in danger of drifting into offending via alcohol and drug misuse. http://www.street-talk-choices.co.uk/

Mentor’s London Youth Involvement Project trains and supports a savvy and passionate group of volunteer teenagers to consult with some of London’s top policy makers. The aim is to make drug policy in London and ultimately around the country as effective as possible.

In Scotland, Mentor support kinship carers looking after grandchildren whose parents have drug or alcohol dependence. It’s a very tough job and Mentor’s expertise is helping to provide better support for vulnerable families, and assists kinship carers to set up their own support groups. http://www.mentoruk.org.uk/about-mentor/scotland/
