DrugScope is the national membership charity for the drug sector and the UK's leading independent centre of expertise on drugs.
Drugscope minimises drug and alcohol related harms by promoting health, well-being, inclusion and integration in society and recognises importance of protecting individual rights and diversity.
Drug scope objectives are:
- Informing policy and developing innovative approaches to substance misuse
- Building partnerships to develop holistic approaches to recovery
- Providing administrative support for forums including the Drug Education Practitioners Forum
- Representing their members and participating in advisory groups such as the Home Office’s Voluntary and Community Sector Drugs Forum
- Improving public understanding of drugs and drug policy through working with the media.
Furthermore Drugscope provides information on all aspects of drugs and drug use, maintaining a searchable database of books and journals, an online directory of treatment and other drugs services in England and Wales, a daily subscription drug and alcohol news service, and with representatives regularly in the media contributing to articles about drugs.
The charity also publishes a bi-monthly magazine called Druglink, which is targeted at those working or studying in the drugs field. It has also produced a website for Key Stage 3 children (aged 11 to 14) called D-World.
