Ansvar tunes up for All Souls
The All Souls orchestra is an exciting charitable initiative, which provides children with unique opportunities to participate in musical experiences, it is receiving sponsorship from Ansvar. The project, called Prom Praise 4 Schools is a joint initiative between the London Diocesan Board for Schools and the Langham Arts Trust. The project works with the musicians of the All Souls Orchestra, a professional standard, 60-piece orchestra.
Members of the orchestra take workshops into schools, which include those in the most deprived inner city areas. A high proportion of the children are from black and ethnic minority groups and those with special needs. They learn about the dynamics of an orchestra, how to listen and participate and are given the opportunity to create their own compositions.
A special feature of the project in alternate years culminates in a massed performance with all the participating schools at the Royal Albert Hall- an awe-inspiring experience for children, many of who have never visited a premier concert hall. Man playing a trumpet in front of some school children
The project theme was carefully assembled with a clear moral message that specifically focused on responsible living and the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse.
Ansvar’s Mark Ingram commented, “This is a truly imaginative project which offers a fantastic opportunity to promote responsible living and help build the spiritual and musical life of the next generation – ideals we are pleased to support and be associated with.”
